How to make a no sew dog bed

This diy no sew dog bed is an easy craft you can make with your kids. If your blankets have a thread around the edge like mine, you will need to carefully cut the thread off.

I found it easiest to trim the whole edge on both blankets. Don’t cut too much of the fabric. You only need to remove the edge with the thread.

A pair of red scissors lies next to a piece of yellow fabric with heart patterns, destined for a no-sew dog bed, on a white wooden surface.

Then cut the edge of the blankets into fringes. Make cuts about every inch or so. You want each cut to be 2-3 inches long. Cut the edges of both blankets.

After you have the edges cut, lay the blankets on top of each other so that the shapes match.

Then start to tie the two blankets together. Grab one fringe from one blanket and tie it to another fringe on the other blanket.

Make sure you tie the fringes tight so they do not pull apart.

Tie the fringes of the whole blanket until you get to the end, then leave a small opening, about 6 or so fringes un-tied.

Use this open area to stuff the blankets with all the cotton balls or stuffing if you are using that.

The last thing you need to do is close up those open fringes. Tie the rest of the fringes closed and you are done!

Do you have to use fleece blankets?

The short answer to that is, NO!

This type of new sew pet bed can be made with other fabrics too. Other than fleece, cotton flannel or t-shirt fabric work best.
